ALS Youth Retreat

ALS Youth Retreat

The ALS Youth Retreat is a free weekend retreat for children and youth ages 8–17 who have a parent or guardian living with ALS and reside in Ontario. Hosted by AWC Grief Support, the retreat combines traditional camp experiences with opportunities for peer connection, therapeutic activities, outdoor adventure, and skill-building and fun in a supportive camp environment.

Designed specifically for youth affected by ALS, the retreat offers participants a chance to connect with others who understand some of the unique challenges that can come with having a parent living with a serious illness. Through campfires, games, creative activities, outdoor experiences, and therapist-facilitated group activities, participants build friendships, skills, confidence, resilience, and a greater sense of belonging. While ALS may be what brings participants together, the weekend is equally about fun, connection, and being a kid.

This retreat has been made possible through the generous support of the ALS Society of Canada (ALS Canada).
