Colleen Mousseau (She/Her) - M.Ed., RP, Co-Founder

Colleen is a Registered Psychotherapist with extensive experience building and leading strong teams in grief-focused work across health care, education, hospice, and community mental health settings. She brings a relational, systems-informed approach to supporting both individuals and organizations navigating grief, whether through direct service or within the workplace.

Colleen is particularly skilled in creating and facilitating groups, developing thoughtful curriculum, and supervising and mentoring motivated helping professionals. Her work is grounded in clinical practice and shaped by a strong belief that sustainable grief care requires connection, reflection, and support for those doing the work.

Through her leadership, Colleen has helped build grief-informed communities for individuals, families, and professionals across North America and Europe. She is known for fostering spaces where people feel supported, capable, and less alone, both in their grief and in the responsibility of caring for others.

  • Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counselling Psychology – University of Toronto, OISE (2012) - Specialization in Community and Educational Settings
  • Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology – University of Western Ontario (2006)
  • Advanced Clinical Training: Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Art & Play-based Therapies, and Mindfulness.

  • Global Leadership in Grief Support: Co-founder of AWC Grief Support, providing 1:1 therapy, family support, and professional supervision, education and consultation across North America and Europe.
  • Specialized Pediatric and Family Grief Support: Former Children’s Grief Therapist at Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre at Mount Sinai Hospital.
  • Developer of Flagship Bereavement Initiatives, including:
    - a dedicated Youth Support Program for bereaved teens in Toronto.
    - a Leader-In-Training Program for youth to serve as mentors at Camp Erin Toronto.
    - culturally responsive community and camp-based programming for grieving children, youth, and families within Cree Nations across Northern Quebec.

  • Grief Communities: Leading and growing camp-based programs (including Camp Erin in Ontario and Camp Alex in Portugal) to foster connection and healing for grieving children and youth.
