Andrea and Colleen first began working together at a small not-for-profit supporting children’s grief through Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, The Dr. Jay Children’s Grief Centre. Andrea’s background was as a Registered nurse and Colleen’s was as a therapist specializing in autism and children & youth mental health. Early on, they connected over a shared commitment to supporting children, youth, and families navigating serious illness, end of life, and life after the death of someone close to them. That shared passion, shaped by clinical experience and daily encounters with grief, became the foundation for their work together.
In 2013, Andrea founded her private practice, Andrea Warnick Consulting (AWC), which quickly grew into a group practice. Within a few years, Andrea and Colleen found themselves working closely together again, and over more than a decade of both formal and informal collaboration, a shared vision began to take shape. In 2023, they launched AWC Grief Support together—today standing for Andrea with Colleen—reflecting the partnership and collective work that had long been at the heart of AWC.
