AWC Grief Support

Kourtney Richardson - She/Her

Kourtney understands how deeply grief and trauma can shape a person’s life. She knows how heavy, isolating, overwhelming and lonely it can feel. How hard it can be to keep moving forward while carrying so much. She offers a compassionate, connected space where clients don’t have to hold it all alone.

Kourtney is especially passionate about supporting those navigating grief and loss in all its forms, including non-death-related grief, and changes in health. Many of her clients come in feeling like they’ve “tried everything” and still feel stuck. She meets this with curiosity, compassion, and a belief that something different and meaningful is still possible. She guides them in taking meaningful, manageable steps forward. Together, they reconnect with strengths, clarify what truly matters, and create a path that feels more aligned and sustainable. The work is thoughtful and intentional, and delicately weaves in moments of lightness and humour.

As a Registered Psychotherapist, Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®, and EMDR-trained therapist, Kourtney brings a strong professional background in hospice palliative care. She has extensive experience supporting individuals and families through life-limiting illness and bereavement.

Her approach is down-to-earth, collaborative, and non-judgmental. She prioritizes creating a sense of safety while also gently encouraging growth and forward movement. Kourtney draws from a range of approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and the Grief Recovery Method, tailoring her work to each client’s unique needs.

Kourtney currently offers virtual sessions and welcomes the opportunity to connect.
