AWC Grief Support

Nadiya Byelova (she/her)

Nadiya offers a warm, grounded space where your story is heard without judgment. She specializes in supporting adults and couples through death, dying, identity shifts, and complex life challenges. Her approach combines professional skill with lived experience: she understands firsthand the realities of long-term caregiving, parenting a grieving child, immigration and international relocation, and being bereaved by the deaths of close family and friends.

Grief, caregiving, and major life shifts can feel intensely isolating, especially when society expects you to stay strong or move on before you have even had time to sit with the realities that exist alongside the death of someone in your life. Whether you are navigating the heavy weight of caring for someone who is dying, parenting a child who is grieving a death, adjusting to life after immigration, or an unexpected change, Nadiya strives to ensure you do not have to carry your grief alone.
With over 25 years of background in human services and workplace health, trained as a teacher, and bereavement group facilitator, Nadiya brings a nuanced understanding of how death and major life changes impact your sense of purpose. Together, you will make sense of what you are going through, find ways to speak about dying and death, navigate relationships, and rebuild meaning at your own pace.

Nadiya Byelova [bi-’lo-va] is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). Her practice is centered around the client's needs and preferences, supported by narrative and existential approaches, and is trauma-informed. She is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, is trained in Gottman Couples Therapy Level 1 and as an End-of-Life Doula. She also speaks Russian and Ukrainian.

Your story

Your story is unique, and it can be healing to hear yourself name what has happened. Nadiya supports clients in reconnecting with parts that may have gone quiet, and to give words to experiences and feelings that have not yet had room to be expressed.

Meaning

In the wake or anticipation of a death, Nadiya holds respectful space for exploring how to live meaningfully alongside what cannot be changed.

Compassion

We are often expected to be strong in grief. Nadiya offers kind acknowledgement of how hard grief can be and helps find strength in being seen, heard and met with compassion.
